IS Retail: different case packs, same article

Hi,

Certain articles are supplied by the vendor in different case packs i.e. the relationship between EA and CS could change over time. We do not wish to create a new article every time that releation changes.

Please advise if this is possible to do with a single article number.

Thanks,

Anisha.

Hi,

Yes. You can create a article with varient configuration in which you can change the attributes of the article keeping the article as same. ( catagory - General article in mm41)

Hi Murali,

Thanks for your reply.

I understand you are suggesting that everytime we receive a different case pack, we create a new variant.

Two questions:

1. Will the system assign a different article number for each variant? We wouldn't want that..

2. Will we be able to see the inventory separatey for each variant?

Thanks,

Anisha.

Hi, check with the below info

If the article is maintained with different alternate unit of measures for sales and purchases, u can maintain different purchase order uints for one article.

In purchasing view u can see ' Base Unit of Measure', 'Order Unit' and 'Var.oUn' fields.

Base Unit of Measure: Unit of measure in which stocks of the material are managed. The system

converts all the quantities you enter in other units of measure

(alternative units of measure) to the base unit of measure.

Order Unit: Purchase Order Unit of Measure, specifies the unit of measure in which the material is ordered. Enter a value in this field only if you want to use a unit of measure differing from the base unit of measure. If the field does not contain an entry, the system will assume that the

unit of measure is the base unit of measure.

Var. OUn: : The information from the field in the material master record is adopted in the purchasing info record. In the purchase order and in the source list, you can enter an order unit that differs from the one in the purchasing info record.

If you wish to specify a different order unit for a requisition, you must assign a source with a different order unit to the requisition.

The field also determines whether you work with conditions for each order unit.

KR
