long running: installing Oracle Support Files 32 bit 9.2.0.2.0 naeet.o

Hi Gurus

i am in process of installing ECC 5.0 Oracle 9.2 on RHEL 5.2 X86_64 machine

while running the database instance installation it is hanging at 17% and still running since 5 hours.

i started the installation with this commands

cd /some_dir

export JAVA_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142/

export DISPLAY=<IP>:0.0

export ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/UPG/920_64/lib

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME:/sapmnt/UPG/exe

./sapinst

now i struck at oracle installaiton at 17%.

installing Oracle Required Support Files 32 bit 9.2.0.2.0 Link pending

copying naeet.o at 17%

s uday,i have started the central instance installation

but

while at the step (Enter the parameters of the database system)

Database Server Version : 102/920 ( here in dropdown i can able to select 10.2)

Database Client Version : 920 ( it is showing only 920 version, where is 10.2 version?)

but i could not able to see that database client version 102

is it the problem of SAP inst master?

That is ok.

The standard 640 kernel runs with the Oracle 9.2 client against an Oracle 10.2 database. After the installation I suggest to install the 640_EX2 kernel and use the Oracle 10.2 client instead

As i complted Database installation( 10.2.0.2Patch) and while at R3 load ( there was power loss)

When i restarted I struckup at R3 load and the log details are like

Please put code tags around postings if you post logfiles, what you posted is almost unreadable.

Execute

R3load -merge_only <TSK-FILE>

for those that had the error and restart.

If that does not help the safest thing is to restart the installation from scratch.

Yes - because the program is coredumping (segmentation fault)

Something is seriously wrong on your system. I highly suggest you start over, there seems to be something very corrupt (maybe also with OS libraries due to the crash).

I have checked in the specified path no files are exists...

So , i again re-started ..... i start all a fresh installation again (starting from CI ( not O/S))

as i deleted all the file systems and created again.

CI installation went fine

i have started the DB instance installation.....

oraInventory is usually created by the Oracle installation. Did you install Oracle by using the

/oracle/stage/102_64/Disk1/SAP/RUNINSTALLER

script?

But while installing central instance and Db instance installation it has asked for oracle 9.2 client and 10.2 client (i have given two clients path)..

Currently i can use RHEL 5.2 only, with 10.2.0 oracle, for that let me know which Inst master do i need?

As my central instance installatin showing the following options:

I Guess RHEL 4.x can support only 32 bit( i am not sure, if not, correct me).

This is a known issue with threads (NTPL), see Oracle Metalink 360142.1

Oracle 9.2 was never certified for Redhat 5.x, you have to use Redhat 4.x instead.

Oracle 9.2 is already out of support, I HIGHLY suggest using Oracle 10.2 for installation instead (together with a new sapinst DVD)
