Idoc to File scenario

Hi,

I am learning XI and trying to create Idoc to file scenario using two Business Services.

Here In R/3 I have created

1) SM59 u2013 RFC destination (given the server details of XID)

2) WE21 u2013 Create Communication port

3) BD54 u2013 Logical System

4) WE20 u2013 Create Partner Profile

In XID server

1) SM59 u2013 RFC Destination (given the server details of R/3)

2) IDX1 u2013 Port Maintenance

3) IDX2 u2013 Metadata Overview

IR and ID is working fine independently. Tested in Test Configuration.

Questions:

1. Do we have to create Distribution view in BD64 (at R/3)?

2. Which server details should be given in RFC destination (at SM59 in XID)

3. Which Partner No. should be passed in IDX1?

4. In IDX1 is it mandatory to give Port name as u201C SAP + System IDu201D while creating it in XID server?

5. In Adapter Specific details for sender business service which logical system to be provided (created at R/3 or XID)

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Dhavalshree D

4. In IDX1 is it mandatory to give Port name as u201C SAP + System IDu201D while creating it in XID server?

No, but common SAP praxis to do so.

5. In Adapter Specific details for sender business service which logical system to be provided (created at R/3 or XID)

R/3 as it's named in XI SLD.

Hi

Questions:

1. Do we have to create Distribution view in BD64 (at R/3)?

As) not compulsory

2. Which server details should be given in RFC destination (at SM59 in XID)

As) from R/3 your are pointing to PI server so PI server details and logon credentials should be given.

3. Which Partner No. should be passed in IDX1?

As)In IDX1 we will maintain the port name,RFC destination and Partner no,partner no is nothing but the logical system name, we need to mantain the logical system name which you created in BD54 in R/3 system and also the client will be the R/3 system client.

4. In IDX1 is it mandatory to give Port name as u201C SAP + System IDu201D while creating it in XID server?

As)it is mandatory to give port name as SAP + Sys ID other wise it throws an error and the message stuck at SM58 in R/3 system.

5. In Adapter Specific details for sender business service which logical system to be provided (created at R/3 or XID)

As) Created at R/3

Thanks

there are actually some good blogs around here that you can base as reference. I am quoting two of them as below that should answer most of your questions;

Configuration steps required for posting idoc's(XI) -

ALE configuration for pushing idocs from SAP to XI -
