2. select DEFAULT profile with (extended maintenance option) >> press "change"

3. then "create parameter button

4. enter the parameter name " login/fails_to_user_lock" and parameter val = 2

Hi

During the startup of your system SAP reads the information of your profile directory /usr/sap/SID/SYS/Profiles

Check this link for more informations [Profile|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/Helpdata/EN/c4/3a610f505211d189550000e829fbbd/content.htm]

Seems like you didn't activate the profile... you need to activate and restart the system.

Hi

If you have proper authorization you can change it from OS level

<Drive>/usr/sap/<SID>SYS/profiles/ DEFAULT profile

Enter the parameter name login/fails_to_user_lock = 2

and bounce the system for parameter to take effect

btw what is your OS?

Hi AsimJamil,

When you put the value for parameter login/fails_to_user_lock then click on the back button, you will get a pop-up saying whether you want to save the profile.click on yes. Here at the present screen click on save another pop-up will ask you whether you want to activate then click on yes.

Now you can check the value in the profile.

Restart the system so that the parameter will be effective.

Dear Ashok Dalai:

yes, it works. and after bouncing the servies it had also written on O/S default profile file.

Could help me to understant to relation of PROFILE OPTION with this O/S file. or it directly read from the file (/usr/.../sys/profile/DEFAULT)

Hi,

1) It seems u dont have proper authorisation to change the profile parameters.

2) u need to bounce the server, so that new values will be effected.

u said its a production box so take care.

do you have authorization to change the profiles

because you are following the right method, please try again

after saving the profile,it will ask you to activate the profile, you need to activate the profile through RZ10

then you need to restart SAP system in order to change the value of this parameter
