What is MDM

Hi

Could any one give me a glance of what is MDM and how it works and what all the things i can do if i install it on my personal desktop.

All already got to know by checking the previous questions where to get it and how to download it

Could any one give me a glance of what is MDM and how it works and what all the things i can do if i install it on my personal desktop.

MDM basically is a master data management tool where in you perform the following tasks in brief:

1) Create a repository in MDM Console. ( Console is a administration tool of MDM where you create a repository, tables and fields and set their properties).

2) You should create a source in Excel or Access ( for practice) and import it using Import Manager Gui. There you will have to perform the mapping of the Source fields with the MDM fields you have created in Console.

3) Next, you can login into the Data Manager and check the imported data. You can have several other tasks there.

4) Now, using syndicator, you can create Fields in the Destination Items and perform the Mapping between the MDM fields with the ones you will create in Destination Item pane.

This is the basic overview of MDM. You can start off with this and then later start exploring the advance features of MDM.

Hi Uday,

MDM is a Master data management tool.

It deals with all types of master data related problems and address the Business areas like

- Consolidation Harmonization

- Central Mastet data management

- Data Deduplication.
