How to arrange a recount for physical inventory before the previous period?

Hi,

In my case, current period is 200904. Now I have one physical inventory document whose inventory count has been entered in 2009.02, but we forgot to post that document. Now we find out this document but the difference cannot be posted since 200902 lies before the previous period.

Message no. M7743 gives us two procedures like below:

There are two possible ways of posting the differences:

1. Arrange a recount. Proceed as follows:

Arrange a recount for the physical inventory document. As a result, all the items of this document will be deactivated and copied into a new physical inventory document (recount document).

Enter the count results for the recount document.

Post the differences for the recount document.

2. Delete the items involved. Proceed as follows:

Choose the function "Physical inventory document -> Change", and delete the items concerned.

Include the deleted items in a new physical inventory document.

We don't want to delete items, but when try to recount by MI11, it gives us underlying message:

Phys. inv. doc. cannot be created before period 2009/03

Diagnosis

The specified date lies before the previous period. However, you can only enter a physical inventory document for the previous period, the current period, or the next period.

Procedure

Change the planned count date.

We have tried to change the planned count date to different periods but it didn't work. It seems that it cannot be posted just because the document has been entered in 200902.

Could anyone give us some suggestion on how to solve it?

This recount procedure is of no use for you, or did you really have no movement during the last 2 periods?

Just delete the document and create a new document and count again. Take it as a learning session, you will never forget to post the difference again.
