CUA Migration

Hello Experts,

Regarding CUA migration - Sap Overview document says

For the migration, SAP recommends to install SAP NetWeaver Identity Management on top of your CUA. This way you can introduce the benefits of SAP NetWeaver IDM without disrupting your current landscape.

1.What does it mean to install IDM on top of CUA. I understand that we have to Configure IDM the (DB,RT,UI and MC) on top of CUA (if CUA has SAP NW 7.0 SP14).

2. Suppose my CUA has SAP 6.20 or &6.40. I guess we have to install IDM on separate individual server(Nw7.0 sp14 or CE 7.1 EHP1). please guide me ?

Thanks

Thirumal

IDM requires to be installed on seperate server and not on CUA Server. These Guides will help you.

Hi Ankumar,

Thanks for the response.

I gone through most of the all the documents already.

I have still couple questions in my mind

1.You mean that there are no migration process between CUA to IDM 7.1. so one have to install New IDM 7.1 server and setup the connection betweenIDM and (ABAP, JAVA and NON-SAP systems). Please correct me if i am wrong?.

2.How to migrate Existing CUA customers (Eg: CUA syncronized with LDAP -UME-Customer and NON-sap) User/roles, authendication and (SSO) Logon tickets *to IDM 7.1?.*. Is there any mechnanism to migrate or upgrade from existing customer (Eg: CUA syncronized with LDAP -UME-Customer and NON-sap) mapping/setting to IDM 7.1?. or we have to do manually setup and map all the settings (as new installation)?.

Thanks

Thirumal

Hi,

1. Yes, you are right. New Install of IDM and connections are required. However you can continue with CUA with IDM on top (as shown in previous doc) if required. or page 35 of this doc

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/7037d982-40aa-2a10-e283-a76a9dfc...

2. Pls find answer from another thread which I saved (thanks to author).

You cannot upgrade or migrate from CUA to IDM.

CUA is ABAP Technology. and IDM is different Technology

1) Install IDM on different Server.

2) connect all your repositories (SAP and non-SAP Systems) to IDM.

3) do "Initial Load" for all repositories. this will collect users, roles, groups, assignment of roles to users, groups to users.....etc.

4) now IDM has all the users with role assignments of all Systems in your landscape.

5) Start Managing users from IDM.

6) Remove CUA from landscape.

Hope this helps,

Hi Thirumal,

1.Please provide the specific document which deal with the
configuration details between IDM and Non-sap systems.

not many documents as such in my information

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0286679-dac9-2b10-8cad-d5c1ca55...

2.Also provide What are the Non-sap Systems
which supporterd by IDM 7.1?

Dont have such list , IDM connector framework supports generic data sources, such as JDBC databases and LDAP directories, and applications like Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, or Lotus Notes.

however all systems support DB/LDAP/ Web Services/files etc...

3.Is there any tutor materials available regarding IDM 7.1 ?.
If yes please provide the path of them.

No Tutor Material, however these guides will be of help.

Hi,

https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/swdc --> Installation & Upgrade Guides --> SAP NetWeaver --> SAP NetWeaver Identity Management 7.0 --> SAP NetWeaver Identity Management 7.1: Documentation Center

I couldnot find the SAP NetWeaver Identity Management 7.0 under SAP NetWeaver .

1. Installatin overview Document says about the installation of IDM 7.1 includes -MC, DB, RT ad UI. After installation IDM 7.1. how to do map or initial load or connect the satellite system like ABAP(eg:ERP) and JAVA(Eg:EP) and Non - sap systems. Is there any specific Sap document available to do the step by step procedure. Please mention the name of the document and provide the link of the documents.

Thanks
