OBA5 - message control for cost element category (01)

Dear Experts ,

I'm facing a problem in FB70 .

When I enter a Line item , ( if that account Belongs to cost element category (11 -Revenue) ) , when i try to save it , without entering the WBS-Element .It is throwing error through message control - OBA5 , KI - 166.

But when i try to save , without entering the WBS-Element , for the account which belongs to cost element category - 01(Primary costs/cost-reducing revenues) . It is not throwing that Error.

What message no , should i maintain in OBA5.

Pls guide me.

Hi Sabari

If no error is encountered for posting on cost element type 1, there must be a default or automatic account assignment. So the system does not require you to manually enter an object.

KI166 specifies the need for a true object for revenues, so the WBS must either be statistical or not maintained as an account assignment object. Check CJ03 under Basic data for this.

Hi Sabari,

You are trying to post revenue in an account with cost element category 11 without assigning a cost object it throws an error because in OBA5 KI-166, standard message type is defined as error which is correct.

Ideally for revenue postings account with cost element category 1 should be used.

As per my advice you should not change anything.

However, theoretically the message KI-166 can bew changed to I, W or -.

This should solve your problem
