You can apply Kernel through [JSPM|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/11791] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];

Hi,
a)Log on to the SAP Marketplace using an OSS ID with Administration rights u2013 http:
service.sap.com
b)Download
SAP Support Packages
My Companyu2019s Application Components
SAP ERP
SAP ERP 2006(depends upon which you used)
Entry by Component
SAP ECC Server
SAP kernel (select your version)
c)Scroll down the Download screen until you find your current package level. Any support packages after your current level will need to be applied to your SAP System.
d)Download the required .CAR or .sar files Put them in a temporary directory either in /usr/sap/trans/tmp or any other folder which you can create (say, patch)
e)Change to the directory /usr/sap/trans (UNIX) or usrsap rans (NT)
f)Use the command SAPCAR -xvf <path the of the CAR file including the .CAR extension>
g)The command SAPCAR will decompress the CAR or SAR file and put two files (with
extensions .ATT and .PAT in the /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in directory.
Now for kernel patches follow the rohit procedure
If u used solution manager to download patches then see the below link
