When you are investing cost for the maintaing your asset or creating new asset at that time FI -AA (Asset accounting comes in picture ).
When you wanted to plan your cost / Budget not at project level but at organization leve at that time IM will come in to project & here if the same cost is for maintaing asset than IM /PS /AA integration will come up...
1.Create Investment Program Definition T Code IM01
2. Create Investment Program Structure T Code IM22
CASE 1 Bottom up Cost Planning
3.Creation of WBS for the direct assignment to Position id. T Code Cj20n or assignment can be achieve via Assign Investment measure WBS to Position Id

4. Plan the cost for the created project say for ex. Cj40
5.Roll up of Planned Value from Measure i.e. assign WBS to IM Program T Code IM34
Case 2 Top Down Budget distribution
6. Creation of Appropriation Request T Code IMA11 ( Replace By measure )
7. Assignment of IM Position id to Appropriation Request. T Code IMA11
8.. Budget distribution to investment measure from IM Position id.

Regarding Settlement
In the investment Project When you REL the WBS carrring appropriate investment profile at that time system creates AUC. T Code Cj20n
At the first time Settlement of AUC carrying WBS Element system automatically creates settlement distribution rule. After the first time settlement of AUC carrying WBS element you can find the same in in WBS settlement distribution rule. Tcode CJ88
For the final seetlement ot fixed asset we create fixed asset via T code AS01.
After creation of Fixed asset via AS01. We maually maintain Cj20n -->Ctr+F3 (settlement distribution rule for the AUC carring WBS for which frist seeltment has run and sys. has generated AUC )
In second settlement T code CJ88, sys settle cost of AUC to Fixed asset.
The same can be view after settlement in T code AW01N with the acquivision value of settlement.
