Hi SAP Guys,
Actually I have to build one server which will be the replica of the Production Server (Production Backup will be restored in replica machine) so which things are required to install new SAP Instance on other server
1)SAP sid should be same as Production
2)System No should be same as Production
3)What Other things should be same as Production
Please do let me know which things to be consider before installing new SAP Instance on Replica Server
Platform
Machine :- IBM iseries
OS:-OS/400
SAP:-ECC 6.0
Database :-DB2
Hi Vinay,
no proble with that ... but then you should at least talk to an experienced consultant and discuss the strategy and the handling - and I can then promiss to you: It will really work fine

Hi Volkar,
I do agree with that need to take 3rd party s/w for same but its totally rolled out due to some finance problem.
So we are planning to adopt backup/restore strategy only.

Hi Stephen,
ok, a DR scenario is not supported at all with "just doing a backup and restoring" that ...
Normally, you need special HA 3-party vendors for that. OK, I did this at some customers myself already. But, yes, then you exactly need to take care for these type of problems.
btw: In my eyes, it it far too much traffic, to replicate the complete DB each night - it would be a lot easier & faster to replicate the journal receivers and apply them automatically (that is just the delta). This is even possible in a "manuall solution" ...

I have prepared a DR system with 4.6C. I have performed the nightly, on-line database back up recommended by SAP, and find that the database/ifs restore is enough to bring up a functional SAP system in about five hours, with the same SID and No. The SAP system thinks it is on the source machine, (except of the license, of course!).

hii
check for the hardware resources of the new server that you using,is it enough because you are restoring the production database.
Also the RZ10 profiles should be same

Hi Vinay,
I would STRONGLY recommend to do a homogenious systemcopy instead of an installation. Othweise, you have to wipe out everything.
If it is ABAP, you could use the following link:
http://www.4soi.de/homogenious-systemcopy.php
For Java, you have to use the SAPinst Kit of SAP.
But, then you seem to be pretty unexperienced with that ... did you choose for a HA software already ? Or do you want to do that yourself ?
How do you want to hold the replica in sync ?

Hi Volker ,
Thanks a lot for your prompt respose
It will not be a sync replica of the Production envirnoment. There will be a manual intervation daily.
**Actually daily we will take production server backup and that backup we will restored in the other SAP Server.it will be a 1 day later replica of PRD for any crisis time.**
(
This is the requirement
)
Thats activity only i need to do.
