How to index already archived data

We have some data that was archived last month on the UNIX file system.

We do not have OPENTEXT.

We wonder if it is possible to add indexes to the archived data?

Please advise. Thanks a lot!

Hi,

You can create index for the archived data present in UNIX File directory.

Archive Information system helps you to create index.

Check for the archive infostructure for archiving object in transaction SARI and activate infostructur to create Index table (ZARIX******) and fill the structure for activated infostructure through SARI transaction. In this way you can create Index table for the archived data.

After creating index table not all the standard transaction can retrieve the archived data. Only archive enable transaction can access the archived data using this index. However In SARI transaction through Archive Explorer you can see all the archived data.

-Thanks,

Thanks!

I have 2 more question for you gurus:

1) If the archived data is on DVD or tape, or any other storage other than file system, is above solution still valid?

2) If we set up OPENTEXT, can we index the archived data differently?

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, you can store it ISO certified WORM CD's or Magnetic tapes. If you have software such as OpenText or Documentum then all the above is valid.

Indexing of archived data will happen at SAP level and there will no changes in it.

-Thanks,

Ajay

Hi,

We can not add indexes to the data once it is archived.

However, before archiving data, we can create build index programs and provide the same with the archiving object in the AOBJ transaction code which will create indexes for the archived data but once the data is archived, we can not do so !!!

Please press "F1" on all the check boxes and programs related to building indexes in the transaction code AOBJ for more information.

Thanks,

Shamim
