Diff between SAP MDM 7.1 & 5.5

Can somebody list out differences between 7.1 and 5.5 versions.

And if have to install SAP MDM 7.1 should I download all 5 rars.

Hi Tejas,

SAP has done a major changes in MDM 7.1 as compared to MDM 5.5 release.

1) Support of more than one main table.

2) Introduction of touples concept

3) Integration of MDM into SAP's famous CTS i.e. change & tranport management

3) MDM 7.1 don't accept blank password. New user now can be prompted to change his pwd for first time log in. Remember pwd functionality (Saving password) removed. Failure attempts to log in may lock user's account. You can change your password through any clients (not necessary through console only).

4) Improved performance of MDM server.

5) Auxiliary servers like MDSS & MDIS can be administered through MDM console.

6) Server log files are more meaningful removing all previous mess & showing the actual error of concern.

7) Native MDM adapter in PI for MDM-PI integration

😎 More advanced iViews and web services

9) SAP MDM rich clients with SAP Signature design for improved appearance

Hi Tejas,

Just some additional info on the MDM 7.1 version.

SAP is planning to come out with the 7.2 version of MDM by the end of 2010.

Right now MDM is still in the ramp up version and most of its mentioned features are not fully enabled and with the coming of 7.2 version we may see a lot more improvement in the tool.

Hi Tejas,

There are many differencer or you can say enhancements in MDM 7.1 whihic were not present in erlier version. Some of them are:

Multiple Main tables in a single repository (Now you dont need to have a repository for each main table)

- Introduction of Tuples (Its like Qualified link can contain another qualified link)

- Better transport mechanism
