Warning Message to Error Message - V1-448

Hi Experts,

Please tell me the path in SPRO to change Warning Message to Error Message for Message No. V1-448.

Not recommended

Go to SE91, input the following:-

Message Class:::::V1

Number::::::::::::::::448

Block the messgae 448 and click on "Where-Used-List" or press "CntrlShiftF3". Select Programs and deselect all and execute. Tick the program and double click on the right side column under "Short description" tab.

Take the help of ABAPer and change according to the requirement.

Thanks a lot for your input.

But why this change is not "Not recommended" ?

In other Standard SAP System Message we are able to change form Warning to Error or vice versa thru configration itself without ABAPer help but we are not able to locate the path of V1-448 message thru configration.

Or otherwise the message V1 message no 499 has to be converted to error message

Go to SE91

1.Input the message class V1

2..Input the message no say 499 in no and execute

3.select the message no and click on where used list (ctrlshiftF3)

4.select the box programming and deselect all others

5. Then a list of programs where this error message is used will appear

6.Double click description on the right side of your screen

7.Here you can see the codings written for this message 499 which can be changed to warning to error

The best way to do it is with ABAPer only

Not recommended to change the standard settings

Why

If you tamper the standard codings like message class V1 then SAP in future may not support us if there are going to be some critical issues during upgradation etc (while upgrading versions)

This is one example

There are a lot of standard messages from SD ,MM and for other modules too SAP has given for customizing in SPRO screen

Changing that is not a problem likefor SD t code OVAH and OVM1

But not the other messages which are not there in SPRO

But if the business is getting profited by changing so then you can go ahead

Raja,

Would it also be safe to say that if the need is for a specific area in SAP that a new message could be created and issued as an error. That way you can further define your message and stay away from SAP STD?
