DATASET_CANT_OPEN

Hi experts ,

Am getting this error in a job SAP_STATISTIEK_COLLECTOR

unable to open file usr/sap/trans/PV2_2009-04-*

eg for the job run of 8th april file will be PV2_2009-04-07 i.e previous date's file

The report is getting terminated at line

TRANSFER TASK_REC TO DSNAME(DATASET) i.e file created. in the FORM FILL_DATASET

Now the interesting thing is

Der is FORM OPEN BESTAND above this from which creates the same dataset that is required to store the output

Probing further

No files with name PV2_2009* exist in the directory usr/sap/trans

Also the job run of 5th -april is successfull

the job has been failing since 6th april

Kindly suggest

Regards Ameya

the owner of the file has the permissions

-rw-rw---- 1 pv2adm sapsys 0 Nov 17 03:00 PV2_2008-11-16.saptm

-rw-rw---- 1 pv2adm sapsys 0 Nov 18 03:00 PV2_2008-11-17.saptm

-rw-rw---- 1 pv2adm sapsys 10010 Apr 16 03:00 PV2_2009-04-15.saptm

Well the job of 16th April was completed successfully.

Senior said the owner dint have permission to create file dats why it was failing

well the permissions were changed.

If the owner didn't have permission to create file how come the report is not terminating at the FORM OPENBESTAND which is for creating this file????

Kindly clarify me!!!

Seems odd that the statistics collector is looking in /usr/sap/trans for a file.

Have you tried searching for the file at the OS level?

Hi,

Please check if the file system where /usr/sap/trans resides is having free space or 100% full. Also please check the permission of this directory.

Thanks

Hi,

Please check the permissions of trans directory

User <sid>adm should be the owner and should have write permissions too.
