Hi,

We have SAP R/3 Enterprise 47x200 installed. I allways thougth that WebAS version is the same as BASIS, but I found this:

Like SAP Web Application Server 6.20, SAP Web Application Server 6.30
consists, among others, of the following software components:
  a.. SAP Kernel 6.20
  b.. SAP_BASIS 620
  c.. SAP_ABA 620

So it's not the same ? So how do I check vertion of WebAS when ?

thanks

Vilius

Hi Vilius,

You may assume as a rule that the WebAS version and the version of the SAP_BASIS component are one of the same thing. The example in your post was an unfortunate (but once-only) exception. In fact, the "WebAS 6.30" never existed on the ABAP side.

For Enterprise / ERP the following equivalence holds:

R/3 Enterprise (rel 47x) => WebAS 6.20 = SAP_BASIS 6.20

SAP ERP 2004 (rel 500) => WebAS 6.40 = SAP_BASIS 6.40

SAP ERP 6.0 (rel 600) => WebAS 7.00 => SAP_BASIS 7.00

With the introduction of Enhancement Packs for SAP ERP 6, the WebAS and SAP_BASIS may be at a higher version, e.g. you can combine SAP ERP 6.0 EhP 4 (release code 604) with NetWeaver 7.0 EhP 1 (SAP_BASIS 701).

Note that the SAP kernel may be in advance on the BASIS version, e.g. in your R/3 Enterprise system the SAP_BASIS component is 6.20 but the kernel is (or should be) 6.40.

Hope this clarifies things,

Mark

Thanks Mark, things look clear now.

Just one more question - you mentioned:

In fact, the "WebAS 6.30" never existed on the ABAP side.

So you mean Java AS ?

So java AS had level 630 ?

Hi Vilius,

Correct. For the AS Java a release "6.30" indeed exists (although there was never such a thing as a 6.30 kernel). On the ABAP side 6.30 was never released and the version jumped from 6.20 to 6.40 straight away.

Mark

Hi Vilius,

SAP Web Application Server(webAS) is the result of continuing development of the SAP Basis system.In addition to the components of the conventional SAP System, it provides the option of implementing both server-side as well as client-side applications.Now the SAP Web Application Server(SAP webAS) has been renamed to the SAP Netweaver Application Server.

We can find three types of SAP webAS

()SAP Web Application Server ABAP System

()SAP Web Application Server Java System

()SAP Web Application Server ABAP+Java System

So SAP basis version is same as SAP webAS version.So from system-->status you are able to see the version details.

yes,if your SAP kernel version is 700,your all support packs should be of release 700 only,same applies for 620,630,640

hi

you can check the version by loggin on to SAP system

then in the SAP Easy access screen,go to system->status

there you can find the version of SAP and also database version

Hope this is what you are looking at

Hi,

So SAP_BASIS component version is WebAS version ?

These terms are the same ? - because from the cite above I thought that SAP_BASIS could be 620 and WebAS 630 at the same installation ?

Hi Vilius,

SAP_BASIS release version is not necessarily same as the kernel version. But WebAS version is referred to SAP Basis release which you may say 620 in your case.

R3 4.7x200 can also run on either 620 or 640 kernel. but SAP_BASIS would be of release 620. for detail you should always check service.sap.com/pam for R3 4.7x200.

Debasis.
