Dear Gurus
I want to create the BOM for Computer = Screen + Herdisk + Key board
1) Main Item Level processing
I have maintained item category group ERLA in MMR (Sales 2 screen) of the finished product
(Computer 1 ).
What item category group should be maintained for sub items?
2) Subitem Level Processing
I have maintained item category group LUMF in MMR (Sales 2 screen) of the finished product
(Computer 2).
What item category group should be maintained for sub items?
3) Also explain about how to mainatin the master records (CS01).

Ashish,
Suppose the material is completed then the value is shown against final product. In that case we use Item vategory Group ERLA. The maina item category will be shown as TAQ. The Subitem will take item category TAE (text item)
If the material is still not complete then the value is ascertaind through sub items in that case LUMF item category is used and item category for the main item is TAP and for sub items it is TAN.
In any case we will change the item category group as (ERLA or LUMF) in the material master of the final material "Computer". Where as the subitems item category will be "Norm".
Note: If you use standarad Order = OR, and standard item category group ERLA in the Finished MAterial Conmputer, then system will automatically assign item categories for Main item = TAQ and SUb Items = TAE.
Standard process and ORder = OR
Then Execute MM02 for finished material or Main materialo alone i.e., "Computer", Assign Item Category Group = ERLA and save. Then create BOM CS01, CS11 Single level the output will be
COMPUTER = TAQ
SCREEn = TAE
HERdisk = TAE
Key board= TAE.
Similarly if you proceed process by changing Item category group = LUMF for main material i.e., Finished goods "Computer" then
COMPUTER = TAP
SCREEn = TAN
HERdisk = TAN
Key board= TAN
If you are changing the document type prefixed with Z , then you need to proceed with "Assign tem Catgeory"

In case of ERLA , your Main Item will have Item Category Group - ERLA and the sub-items will have NORM as Item Category Group.
In this case your main item will have Item category as TAQ which is relevant for Pricing and the sub-items will have TAE as item category which is not relevant for Pricing in the Sales Order.
But in case of LUMF,your main item will have Item Category Group - LUMF and the sub-items will have NORM as Item Category Group.
In this case your main item will have Item category as TAP which is not relevant for Pricing and the sub-items will have TAN as item category which is relevant for Pricing in the Sales Order.
Now go to "CS01" , write the main item in Material ,then the Plant,and BOM Usage as "5" if it is "Sales & Distribution" ,Write in "Component" the Sub-items and in "Quantity" ,write down the Quantity like for Keyboard ,Qty should be 1 with every computer ,same for Hard Disk , Qty should be 1 or 2 with every computer.
Now when you create a sales order with Main Item and Qty ,the sub-items will automatically comes in next line items, then check the Item category .

If you maintain the item category group ERLA at main item level then this material take item category as TAQ.
Then the sub items will get the item category as TAE with item category group NORM
If you maintain the item category group LUMF at sub item level then this material take item category as TAP
Then the sub items will get the item category as TAN with item category group NORM.
In CS01 give the material, plant and bom usage as 5. Then enter.
There you can give the sub components along with quantity and save the data.
The in VA01 you can see the BOM reflections.

the Item Category group to be maintained as follows
1) NORM
2) NORM
3) IN CS01 first enter Computer as header material and then enter your Plant,BOM usage as 5.
For sub items mainatin the item category as L bcoz its stockable item.

HI,
In 1st case
Maintain ERLA for main item and for sub item maintain NORM
Were which will result sub items as text items in Sales order and price will be carried out only for main item
In 2nd case
Maintain LUMF for subitems and for main item maintain as same NORM
were which will result main item becomes as a text item in sales order and price will carried for all sub items
In cs01
Enter main item plant and BOM usage as 5 sales and Dist press enter and maintain all sub items belongs to the main item save and exit
