I am new to EP. I want to know how to add iviews or pages to portal favourites.

Do you mean as an end user, or do you want to add favourites for other people? For yourself, add them as mentined earlier, but you can also navigate through KM to root -> userhome -> <username> -> Favorites and add entries manually..

The purpose of the portal favourites is user specific. It is not same for all.
Standard way is the user can add the pages/iviews in his portal favourites.
Depending upon the user it populates the documents from runtume
from the userhome/ <user name>/ Favourites.
If you want to display for everyone, then you need to manually add to each and every userthem at the place where Michael suggests.

If you want to enable the option 'add to portal favourites' in the page title bar in the default framework page
then go to the framework page -> open page title bar iview. Select the option Add to portal favouirtes as 'Yes' and save the iview.
