Hi,
Can you please tell me teh difference between Dialogue and Central Instance ?
Thanks,
Kavya.
Hi
CI is always a main server for all the installation and file, also all applications will be deployed on this server. All the DI will be connected to CI using J2ee instances and configuration like Visual admin, config tool. Some times CI might be dual stack ie java and abap.
For more information and details you can ask to Basis consultants, might he can put more focus on this.

Hi Kavya,
In minimal configuration, you may not have the DI, but CI is must. both are separate logical unit which can be started and stopped without affecting other instance. CI will only have SDM (software deployment manager) which is required to deploy java archives.
basic configuration of system with CI, DI you can check at

If several Dialog instances are also available, then load balancing may be done by for ex.. web dispatcher tool.
