Mapping External BI Locations

Hi,

We are on VC 7.0 SP 13.

I am working on Export to Excel functionality in VC.

As I understand with SP 13 you can only copy data to clipboard & then paste it in Excel.

We don't want this. We need to open Excel with all the data. I refered to available "How to.." document.

In our case, VC is not on save system as BI. As per the document, in that case 'Mapping External BI Locations' is required.

Explanation of this point is:

"If your BI-JAVA and Visual Composer are on separate ASJAVA

components, you will need to map a Remote URL iView of your BI-JAVA system Web

Analyzer if it is different than the Visual Composer system. This Remote URL iView will need to be

setup differently in your Development, QA, and Production environments to point to the respective

BEx Web Analyzers. Once this is setup, you can use the PCD location of this Remote URL BEx

Web Analyzer within your Visual Composer model. As you transport your iView through your

landscape, this Visual Composer application will continue to operate properly as the Remote URL

iView in each system points to the respective BI-JAVA system."

Has anyone done this before? What are the steps? How to set up URL iview? How to map PCD location of URL BEx Web Analyzer?

Request your help.

Regards,

Apurva

Hi,

I tried this solution. When I use PCD path:

COMPACT ( "pcd! 3aportal_content! 2fcom.sap.pct! 2fplatform_add_ons! 2fcom.sap.ip.bi! 2fiViews! 2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex? ZMMG_0001_Q003 & QUERY = BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE = EXPORT & BI_COMMAND_1-EXPORT_FORMAT = XLS)

it takes me to cluster administrator page.

In this thread it is metioned:

"To export, and VC Biscay taking on different servers, is required for the PCD that is generated in the Bex Web Analyzer ..."

Can you plz explain how to get this pcd path?
