Why do I need to upgrade the SAP GUI latest version 7.1, and What is the SAP GUI version 7.1 look like?

SAPGUI 7.10 is the latest release version available.
Patch 12 is the most recent patch level available for version 7.10.
Previous versions such as 6.40 have been "end of life" meaning that support for those versions are no longer available from SAP. (6.20 is still supported however)
The visuals are the same however you can change the "theme" which will change the look of the GUI. In a previous patch level there was a new theme which was released. It was called SAP Signature Design. This design gives the GUI a more Vista theme, (in my opinion) but does not change the functionality of the GUI. There have been discussions which running this theme causes more resources to be needed on the computer.
