Running Adobe Document Services

Former Member

Hello,

We are looking at a project that will require the use of Adobe Interactive forms. In looking at the requirements for this, I see that we need to run the Adobe Document Services (ADS). The ADS runs on the SAP Java AS. In reviewing the SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM) it looks like running the ADS on the iSeries platform is not available. I am curious if anyone else on this group uses Adobe Document Services and if so, what does your system landscape look like to run this?

Best regards,

Russ Cook

Hi Russ.

If you search this forum you will find several threads dealing with ADS on IBM i. In addition to that I would like to point to our [community homepage|] where you will find a [whitepaper about ADS on IBM i|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50a2b40c-4c03-2a10-b289-84b9fae53095].

Hello Jan,

Thanks for the information. Since we only run the ABAP AS today, it sounds like I need to either install a new Java AS or do an Add-on of the Java AS to one of our existing Netweaver ECC systems. Then I could install the Windows application server. I just need to decide which method is best. Is the Java AS add-on a fairly clean installation?

Thanks,

Russ

Hi Russ,

you should not ask SAP if an SAP product would be a "clean installation" ...

The official SAP version is to install J2EE Add-In to your Abap and then add a windows appl server ...
