Hi,

The target audience of Visual Composer is both Business Persons (non-developers) and Application Developers, and as such it offers two different development and modeling environments:

u2022 Server (Browser-based).

u2022 NetWeaver Developer Studio (Eclipse-based).

In general, there are two aspects when trying to decide which version to use:

Requirements: What are your application requirements? Are you planning to integrate with other tools? The Main Differences section should help you choose the preferred environment based on your answers.

Skills: The decision whether to model using the Browser or using NetWeaver Developer Studio should be based on your experience and knowledge (e.g. Enhanced Modeling, coding skills).

A common scenario is one that creates a synergy between the two types of Visual Composer users and the two environments:

Business Person:

The Business Process Expert initiates the creation process of the application using the browser-based environment by defining the main application flow and the needed UI. For any missing UI or functionality, the Business Person can use placeholders (for example, simulated services or any UI element) instead, knowing that at a later stage the Application Developers will close these gaps.

When the Business Person finishes, he or she can either check the model in to the DTR or export it.

Application Developer:

The Application Developer checks out or imports the model created by the Business Person using the Eclipse-based environment. He or she can then close any gaps left by the Business Person by adding coded components such as Web Dynpro components or data services to the model.

When the Application Developer finishes, he or she can either check the model in to the DTR or export it.

Every model can be accessed in either of the environments at any development stage, regardless of the environment in which it was created or last edited.

Both environments have access to DTR and import/export functionality.

The iteration between the Business Person and the Application Developer can be continued as much as needed.

Hope it helps

Regards

Yogev

Hi,

The difference between NWDS and Visual Composer

The SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio is SAPu2019s environment for developing Java-based, multiple-layered business applications. It is based on Eclipse, an open source product, whose open plug-In architecture not only provides a sound basis of Java development core functionality, but also a suitable platform for extending it with more specific features.

where as Visual Composer is

SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer is SAPu2019s graphical software modelling tool. This web-based application enables business process experts and developers to quickly create business application components, without coding.[1]

Visual Composer produces applications in a declarative form, thereby enabling completely code-free execution mode for multiple runtime environments. It provides full application lifecycle support by maintaining the connection between an application and its model throughout its lifecycle. Visual Composer is designed with an open architecture, which enables developers to extend its design-time environment and modelling language, as well as to integrate external data services

where as you can not make the complicated caliculations in VC..
