We have a system Ecc 6.0 in i5/OS, in this system we have the journal, here we have an indicator MINENTDTA(FILE). To run an application that replication need to change this indicator to MINENTDTA (NONE). My question is does this have any negative effect on the operation of SAP?, Without increasing the size of the Journal file.

hello adrian

We had the same concern before changing the parameter...Am assuming you are going to use some kind of remote journaling based replication software(OMS/MIMIX/etc..)

You should be OK...

The only thing that will increase a little bit is the network traffic between source and target...

watch out for that...

other than that..no side effects on perfromance...

Infact (*FILE) is only to be used if you are not running any high availability solution that synchronizes the tables in another database using the journal receivers....

So you are good..

Refer to note SAP Note 448552 - V5R1: How can I decrease the journal size

Hope that helps...

Thanks

Abhi
