Hi Experts,
When we create selected sets for Characteristic attributes (Catalog 1), is there a way to make entry of defect class not mandatory ?

Hi
These defect classes are used in the following places or for the following purposes:
In the selected sets for catalog 1 (characteristic attributes)
In catalog 9 (defect types)
Now you want defect class to be not to be entered when char is rejected.
There is one solution.....
Go to QCC0>Qulity planning->Basic data>Catlog>define defect class.
Create new entry
Keep defect class,Short text,Quality score Blank
check indoicator-->Defect class allowed
Save the defect class..........
( Defect Class Allowed for Valuation 'A'
Use
If you set this indicator, when maintaining the code for a selected set of catalog type1 (characteristic attributes) you can also enter the defect class, even though you entered the valuation "A" (accepted).
If you do not set this indicator, you can only enter the defect class, if you enter the valuation "R" (rejected) for the code.)
Now when you create a Selected set,and you do valuation as rejected then,,,enter this blank defect
Which will not be visible,even if it enterd.
trythis.........

Dear Jomy,
In characteristic attribute if you select Rejected codes then Defect class becomes mandatory.There is not way you can select the blank one in QS51.
But you can take a call while result recording whether you want it or not. You can skip defect class recording in Result recording if you need. This can be done by
Go to RR > Setting > defect Class on . when you reject a characteristic attribute system will promt you to enter defect class of your choise , you can neglect it and save
Hope this helps

Jomy,
This is the SAP std. functionality. If you enter If you enter Selected set code valuation as "Rejected" then you should have to enter defect class from list critical/ major/ minor. If you enter code valuation the system will not ask to enter defect class. So you can't change this SAP functionality.
But still if you want to avoid this message & put blank in "Rejected" valuation then I am not sure but check with ABAP team member if there is is any user exit available.
Hope this helps.
Thanks!!!
