Question on Material Determination

Hi,

we are trying to setup a functionality on something close to material options/suggestion/substitution.

here is the scenario, when the user enters a material number during sales order creation, a given set of other materials will be displayed (in item numbers: once material 10 is entered, item 11,12,13 will be displayed) from a given set of alternative materials (working in such a way that the materials to be displayed are suggestions or alternative materials.)

this does not necessarily mean material substitution.

ca this be done? if so, how?

Do you mean to say sub line items with ref to higher level item.

If you are looking for that then you should create BOM meterial for which you can explode sub materials during sales order creation.(Ex: material Computer - lower level items like key board, mouse etc)

Hi,

If you use material determination then when ever you give the material it will replace with alternative material maintained for that.

For this you need not to create material master for that alternative material.

Hope you can know the diff between these two.

thanks for the replies..i don't think that BOM will work because:

the one making the sales order will have an option to use either of the materials suggested or the material entered. the other materials will only appear when a given material is entered. kind of like material proposal/except that it will depend on the material.

im thinking maybe item proposal will work except that the condition records will include materials..and that the item numbering must be in a "sub" type ( i.e. 10 : 11,12,13)

any more ideas?

Hai,

In IMG you have to maintain either you want to pop up a list of products should be displayed or automatic substitution. And in VB11 u have to maintain what material u have to enter in sales order and what are all the products it should display as pop up.

Vanilmirth,

1. Use Tcode VB11

2. Choose "A001" click Enter

3. Enter the proposed reason

Note: Proposed Reason Should be the same both at the header and at line items

4. Click the Alternative MAterial ICon Provided above or Click Goto --> Alternative or press F2

5. ENter the list of alternative materials

6. Execute.

Configuration : Needs to be carried out

IMG --> SD --> BF --> Material Determination

Follow the Process and in "Material Substituton reasons" Mainatin the Strategy, Outcome and Check accordingly.

From menu select GOTO and alternative materials
