we are implementing SRM5/Server 5.5 with CCM2.0. We heard that Solution Manager 4.0 is required for configuring the catalog. Can someone explain why? is it because Solution Manager contains the documentation for how to configure CCM or because we cannot do it without it and we are required to perform the configuration steps from within Solution Manager?
thanks in advance.
Hi KIRK
We are using SM to generate the User-Ids so that there will be a central creation of users and which will follow to R/3 and SRM and all other systems through Solution managers.
In case of SRM there are 2 oss notes which we had applied They are 402592 and 772347 for customising .
Kindly check the same.

Hi Kirk,
We're also implementing SRM 5 right now. Since this version has not been released to customer yet, we're asked to involve in ramp-up project for this version. So, that's why SAP has asked us to install Solution Manager 3.2 ( I don't think you need version 4.0) so they can monitor our progress. You're still able to perform configurations without solution manager.

Kirk: Solution Manager contains (links to) the most recent SAP documentation on configuring CCM 2.0 Basis 700. SM is also mandatory if you are on SRM 5.0 Rampup with SAP (maybe some other cases - check your license). To perform configuration steps for CCM, you can but do not have to go via SM (the central user creation could be a good idea though). SM contains (links to) most CCM config steps, but a couple of IMG activities may be missing.
Cheers,
Serguei
