Data load into BPC 7.0M

Hi,

Currently we are in the process of implementing BPC 7.0M Microsoft version. We are doing Financial Planning using this product. We were previously doing our planning using BW SEM

I wanted to know what would be the best way to get the Financial Actuals information from ECC into BPC. Should we pick it up from BW where we are currently pulling and storing it or does it make more sense to pull it from SAP ECC into BPC directly. What are the pros and cons of each method

Any input is deeply appreciated.

Thanks

Uou can use both strategy to have direct connection to ECC and to import data direct from the system but I think it will be easier if you will pull out data from ECC and after you will use standard import package from BPC.

WIll it be difficult to pull the data from ECC directly since there are no standard extractors and we will have to write all the extraction logic.

Any inputs regarding this approach is appreciated. Has anyone tried this approach before.

Hi,

Since BPC 7.0MS is not integrated into Netweaver you wont have any standard extractors.

You have multiple options to extract data from ECC. First option is to extract the data in the form of a flat file from ECC tables and upload into BPC using Data Manager. Second option is to create a report using report painter in ECC and then convert it to a flat file and extract the data from ECC. You can also try Query option in ECC or try to transfer data at database level.

If your customer is already using SAP BI and they have already extracted the required data into it, then you may consider moving data from SAP BI to BPC.

Hi,

It would be faster for you to directly take data from ECC. If you prefer to use other SAP BI functionalities which are not available in BPC, then you can choose to migrate to BPC 7.0NW. If you have decided to continue with BPC 7.0MS, then you can skip SAP BI.
