Hi,
When moving from PI 7.0 to PI 7.1 based on your experiences what is the best approach migrate or upgrade?
Thanks in advance.
We are reaching the end of our upgrade project from XI 3.0 to PI 7.1. We followed one of SAPs recommendation which is: make a system copy of the development system and perform the upgrade on the copy and then do new installations for quality and production.
If we could do it all over again, we would have done a new installation for development instead of the upgrade.
The upgrade of the system copy was a nightmare and we ran into many problems that the documentation did not address (plenty of messages to SAP to get them resolved). It took us 6 weeks to complete the upgrade but the new installs took less than 3 days to complete.
From our experience, the new installation and phase out strategy was the way to go (without the upgrade step).
