Oracle Client

Hello,

I the near future I will have to prepare some internal test systems (IDES) and wanted to test installation of R/3 4.7 Ext2 in SLES 10SP2 with Oracle 10.2.

My OS is 64bit system.

When I use Installation master provided by SAP I can choose:

Database Server Version: 102 / 64bit

Database Client Version: 920 / 64bt

Strange , but there is no option for 102 client.

Is this ok? Will such configuration work? If not, then what is workaround?

On SAP download page I see oracle client for 10.2 but installator does not have that option.

thanks in advance for help.

regards

Rafal

The standard 6.40 kernel works with the Oracle client 9.2 against an 10g database. If you want to use the 10g instantclient you need to update your kernel to the 640_EX2 version.

Note 819829 - Oracle Database 10g: Instant Client Release 10 on Unix

Note 1058988 - 640_EX2 Kernels

Hi

one last question

and how it is with regards to SAP "dbtools" (like brconnect). Should these be tools for oracle 10 or 9 (like client software) ?

DBATOOLS are database dependent - so for Oracle 10g you need the 7.00 tools.
