MC8G - Background job canceled

Former Member

Using MC8G and entering valid job number:

If I choose Program > Execute in Background (F9) and schedule job with date and time, the job name appears as RMCP6BRU and cancels with message BT 001 'Specify a start time'.

If I choose the Execute button (F8) and schedule job with date and time, the job name is the description of the job number and jobs processes as expected.

Why does F9 not work properly in this scenario?

Dear colleague,

Program RMCP6BRV (transaction MC8K) is a scheduling program which

schedules program RMCVISCP to run in the background. Therefore, it does

not make sense to schedule program RMCP6BRV to run in the background.

If you want to manually schedule a copy/delete -versions of SOP step

yourself (e.g. SM36), the program you should be scheduling is RMCVISCP.

In general, however, SAP recommends that you schedule program RMCVISCP

using program RMCP6BRV where possible. When scheduling the program

manually, please check carefully that it has run correctly and that the

copy or deletion results are correct.

Hi Maria,

your recommendation makes sense for the pair MC8K to RMCP6BRV, but what about MC8G, i.e. RMCP6BRU?

I am trying to work on a sequence of (note 90292):

Step 1. RMCP6RES Reset status to active

Step 2. RMCAXXX6 Recreate LISPLF for my infostructure XXX

Step 3. Neither RMCP6BRU nor RMCP6BIN want to run. Both end up with message MA367 "Job not/incorrectly scheduled"

Can you help, please?

Figured it out! Duh!

You just schedule RMCP6BIN with a corresponding variant as a step in a job via SM36. If you run RMCP6BIN as a program in SE38 as a background job, it will error out with a message MA367 "Job not/incorrectly scheduled", so one shouldn't do this.

Outstanding!
