Hi Kamal,

To mass delete printers.

Go to the list of output devices in SPAD. Now go to change mode and Utilities -> For output devices -> Delete All.

If you refresh the list of output devices, you will see all have been deleted.

Dear Chen,

Thanks for the quick reply..

My customer requirement is to delete the output devices in mass.

Also editing each output device and selecting "lock printer in SAP System" and saving the changes will take lot of time ...that too for 250 output devices...:)

From my research i found table TSP03D contains all the output devices names. I tested deleting a set of output devices from DB level and it seems to be ok....

But not sure wether its consistant way of deleting.....

I'm pretty sure that mass deletion of output devices is not a standard funtionality inside SPAD.... you most likely will need to delete them manually, at the end of the day 250 is not such a big number

Hi Kamal

Why don't you try disabling the output devices using the tcode SPAD.

In the device attribute tab, check the option 'Lock Printer in SAP System'

Hi Kamal,

I had to do this once to help clear up a IDES installation. What I did is setup a trace in ST05 (ST01 works as well) and used that to determine the tables that needed to be updated. Then I completed the delete process from the DB side.

I don't know if you are comfortable doing that but it worked for the clearing out the printers in the IDES system (which was an ECC 6.0 box).

Hope that is helpful.

Hi Kamal

If you have lots of printers (50 or more) and need to lock them for maintenance, you can used this mass locked printers tips to locked or unlocked all the SAP printers at one go.

To mass Lock all the printer in SAP:

Go to transaction code SPAD

On top of the screen menu click Utilities -> For output devices -> Export devices

On the screen Import and Export of Device Descriptions:

Export/Import file name: c:\temp\printer.txt

Frontend computer: Tick

Export: Tick

Export Export: Tick

Output device: Choose the Selection options Pattern and type a *

(* for all or a* for all printers starting with a)

Click the Execute button

Open the text file do a replace all of PADISABLED = "" to PADISABLED = "X"

Then import the same file.

or

Another way is to go through each output device in SPAD and click on 'Lock Printer in SAP System' which is in the DeviceAttributes tab

I hope this helps
