Hi Sandesh,

Just like the post installation check that you can perform on any other SAP system ,similar test can be carried on the SAP MDM tool for testing it working.

The primary tests that you can perfrom are:

- Test the working of the MDM server by mounting it in the MDM console

- The server should be Started and running

- If this step is cleared you need to test the Database functioning

- You can do this by creating a new rep on the database by using the Console context menu to carete Repository

- If you are able to successfully enter in the DBMS details and create the rep your database is also working right

- Next you can create tables and fields in the resoitory and Load it to test the functioning of other GUI

- Once the server and repository is working fine the rest operation usually do not give problems after installtions

- You can open each of the GUI like data manager,Import manager,Syndicator etc and test the master data mainatainenec in it.

To know what all functions are performed in each of the Gui you can refer the below link:

Hope It Helped

Hi Sandesh,

Once you are done with the installation, you are now ready to work with MDM.

MDM has four Basic GUIs - Console, Import Manager, Data Manager and Syndicator.

To begin with you can start with the Console operations.Operations like repository designing, creating roles, users, constraints, database settings etc are the major functinalities of the console.

Import Manager is the next component to work with.

The data upload to the MDM system for various source data files can be done through the Import Manager.Other functionalities include saving the import map, applying value conversions, etc.

You can design your workflows, assignemts, validations, transofrmations, rules and strategies in Data Manager.Apart from this you can also perfom other data manipulations using the Data Manager.

Finally the syndicator helps you to syndicate the data out to the destination system from the MDM box.

You can create syndicate maps which will have various map properties and field properties configured.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Hi Sandeep,

can someone tell that what are the post installation checks needs to done

To perform the post installation checks effectively, You can basically divide the steps based on the 4 gui's of MDM.

1) Console Activites - Creation/Deletion of a table, Creation/Deletion of a Field in a table, Creation/Deletion of Remote Systems and ports, Archiving/Unarchiving,Check/Repair the repository for Errors, Changing the Field properties etc.

After performing the steps, you can check whether MDM is behaving properly or not.

2) Import Manager Activities - Connecting to a source, Creating the Import Maps, Changing and saving the Import maps, Field and Value Mapping, and Import of some test data.

3) Data Manager Activities - Creating/Deleting/Update of record manually, creating and running Validation, assignments adn Workflows etc.

4) Syndicator Activities - Item mapping, Creating Destination items and Syndcaiton of records.

These steps have mostly covered all important activites you can perform as the Post Installation/Upgrade checks.

Hope it helps.

Hi Sandesh,

Check the Post Installation section of MDM Installation guide.

https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001119842007E

If you are using windows and SQL Server as a database, then just try creating new repository, load with update indices, open the GUI Clients (Import Manager, Syndicator, Data Manager) to check the version compatibility of MDM Server and Clients. If this works fine then you should not face any problems in functionalities.
