DB-Connect Failed, Return Code 000256

Hi,

As I was trying to connect NWBC to my DEV R3 system I read that I must put the following parameters on the instance profile:

login/accept_sso2_ticket = 1

login/create_sso2_ticket = 1.

After doing so and after system reboot, the system doesn't start (the disp+work.exe status turns to stoped). I manually delete the above mentioned parameters from instance profile using the files in usr\sap\DEV\SYS\profile but again the system doesn't start. the log dispays "DB-Connect Failed, Return Code 000256".

Can anyone help me?

I found the problem here

In default profile schema is maintained as "sid"

But in dev_w* log i can find " i'm dbo but there exists 1 users dbo with tables SVERS "

why this discrepency???check the schema and correct the parameter....It needs to be dbo i beleive

In sql...schema will be either dbo or sid for sap systems which holds all the tables

Please check parameter dbs/mss/schema = schemaname exists in your instance profile.

If still the problem persists,then its login problem with database.Proceed with 610640 note in such case.

These things will solve ur problem for sure

Hi,

Check the connectivity with your message server. One of the trace shows there was a problem to communicate with message server.

Secondly try starting with <sid>adm login at command line.

startsap name=<SID> nr=<instancenumber> sapdiahost=<ipaddress>

remove the parameters :

login/accept_sso2_ticket = 1

login/create_sso2_ticket = 0

and try to start SAP

also if not sucessful please post dev_w0 logs but in readable form,last time when you did it was very confusing

Hi

I guess you got the parameters wrong in the system

the values should have been be

login/accept_sso2_ticket = 1

login/create_sso2_ticket = 0

try putting them in the the profile and then start the system

If still SAP doesnt come up,then post the dev_w0 logs from work folder on your operating system

That will tell what the error is

Have you done any other changes in the system?if yes,let me know

if not. remove these parameters and also check whther they exist in default profile

and then start the system
