Hi,
To define it in a simple way -
In WM, based on the storage type search system determines a storage type for Putaway or for Stock Removal (Picking).
Storage type search is also a part of Storage Bin Determination in WM.
Hope its clear.

Hi,
Go through the above link provided by Mdz which will give full details of Storage type search.
To answer your question, in WM we can define upto 32 storage types in the automatic storage type search table. So system will check each storage type in ascending order as we mentioned for putaway as stock removal.
Hope its clear.
Regards,
Plz undestand this:
In t-code OMLY u give:
ur
a)warehouse no
b)Operation (means that the stor. type is for Putaway/stck removal/2 step)
c)st. type ind. / special stock / storage class / water pollutant etcc.....
Based on all these combinations u give a storage type for automatic determination of ur
storage bin for ur operatoion metioned in the 2nd column.
2nd storage type is if stck is not in frst then it goes for the 2nd one and so onn....
Hope ythis helps or rvert
