Schedule line control in sales order

Former Member

The question is really about how SAP decides whether to have 1 schedule line or 2. For example, if an order is placed but there is no stock you usually get a schedule line for the delivery required date but with zero confirmed quantity.

When the stock comes in then we sometimes get a second schedule line for the confirmed stock with a revised delivery date. However sometimes we have noticed that the original schedule line gets updated even though the stock is confirmed later. Can anyone explain what rules are applied in deciding whether to create the second schedule line or not.

Hi

System always create new Schedule line ling based on PO or PR considering for Ex if system find any po or pr in future then it will create new Schedule linebased on that and suppose in some case you had dune Gr for that item, and do ability check in sales order then system will not create new Schedule line it will update same on that Schedule line

Dear SAP SD

SAP gives two schedule lines for a line item based on the logic of backward scheduling and forward scheduling after making the availability check at plant level on the material availability date

Hope you are clear with backward and forward sheduling

If the system can confirm the ordered qty on the customers requested delivery date thro backward scheduling then there will be only one schedule line in the line item in sales order

If the system can not confirm the ordered qty on the customers requested delivery date thro backward scheduling then it carries forward scheduling and there will be two lines in sales order.

One date equivalalent to customers requested delivery date with confirmed qty zero there will be another schedule line in the line item in sales order with the full ordered qty on a date in future

If there are two lines then delivery scheduling has happened thro forward scheduling

If there is only one line then delivery scheduling has happened thro backward scheduling

For example you are creating a sales order today 27.03.2009 and the requested delivery date is 07.04.2009 from the customer side

Transit time is 2 Days

Transportaion planning time is 2 days

Loading time is 1 day

Pick/pack time is 1 day

Consider these settings

Now backward calculation

07.04.2009 (requested delivery date)-2 days (transit days)-1 day(loading time)-2 days (transportation planning time) = that is on 02.04.2009 there should be enough stocks in the unrestricted stocks and system checks stocks for this day or date ,that is on,02.04.2009 whether the stock is available enough

This date 02.04.2009 becomes the material availability date

Note Transportaion planning time and Pick/pack time will run parallely and the higest of these two is considered for delivery scheduling so in our case Transportaion planning time is 2 days that is the highest and hence it is taken for calculation and not pick /pack time

If the system finds enough stocks on 02.04.2009 that is material available date then it confirms schedule lines for that order this is backward

Then there will be only one schedule line in sales order that is confirmed delivery date 07.04.2009 which is equivalent to customers requested delivery date

This is backward scheduling

Same example order is registered today 27.03.2009 and if the customer wants stocks on 29.03.2009

This means 29.03.2009-2 days (transit days)-1 day(loading time)-2 days (transportation planning time) = 24.03.2009

The order registered date is today that is 27.03.2009 and the material availablity date is 24.03.2009 in the past or material available date goes to past.

This is illogical

This means backward is failing here and now forward calculation takes place

Forward calculation

If you have enough stocks today 27.03.20092 days transportation planning time1 day loading time+2 days transit time=01.04.2009

This means that is on 01.04.2009 the stocks can be confirmed for this order as againt a requested delivery date of 29.03.2009

In forward the system will give 2 schedule lines first that is requested delivery date that is 29.03.2009 (in our case) with ZERO qty and the second date as 01.04.2009 with full qty

In backward you will find only one date in the schedule lines which is the same as requeted delivery date that is 07.04.2009 in our case

Hope i made things little bit clear to you

One of the scenario is that if a Order goes into a credit block the schedule line would have confirmed quantity as ZERO even if Stock exists, once the credit release happens the same schedule line gets updated with the confirmed quantity.
