Dear All,
Is it mandatory to mention the storage unit type such as pallets/boxes in Material Master incase of Stock Putaways if SUM is active for the storage type ??
or
Will the system will determine the SU type automatically based on the storage unit search we have mentioned in IMG inorder to determine a storage bin for putaway ?
Hope my query is clear.

Hello,
When you activate storage unit management you need to maintain palletization data with SUT in material master. If we do not maintain then how system will do storage unit type search. Even though you maintain SUT search in search strategy system will take reference from material master whether that SUT is maintained for that material or not.
Please do an exersize for understanding without maintaining SUT in palletization data whether system able to find SUT or not .
Regards,
Prashant

Hi
Yes, I think so, if SUM is activated, you must define the SU type and number range in WM, as to the SU type usage, with the indicator for the storage unit type, it is possible to distinguish pallets or other containers on which a material is stored or transported. The classification of your storage units allows you to use the stock placement strategies in an optimal way. The storage unit type is taken into account during stock placements if you have activated the "storage bin type search". That's it.
Hope can help you!
Tao
