Does anyone know how I can use the Standard Fields of Industry (KNA1-BRSCH) and Industry Code 1(KNA1-BRAN1) within the Customer Master of ECC to house the NAICS codes? The help text states it can be used for classificaiton like SIC codes. My company wants to use NAICS code, but the descriptions are over 150 characters and the current configuration only allows for 20 character descriptions?
Has anyone else stored NAICS codes in ECC for Customer? Can you please let me know how? I'm trying to follow standard as much as possible.
Thanks,
Brian

Zsuzsanna Hartyani - Thanks for replying, however I still believe there to be a problem. I have also been able to read the OSS message response that I recieved. But the problem is that in CRM, I have a field that maps directly to this ECC Field, but in CRM it has a 100 character limit defined. Table in CRM is TB038B and Field name is TEXT. Using Standard Initial Customizing load from ECC to CRM, the Industry description in ECC (20 char limit) is then moved to this 100 char limit field. This makes no sense! Further in CRM there is a "Short Decription" (Field TEXT_SHORT) that is only 20 chars...
Please respond with how to get ECC to have the 100 character limit.
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
sorry for misunderstanding your issue. Please have a look to the message from my collage:
0000322291 2009 . He has right and the answer is correct in the message.
That is:
This is intended even if it looks strange. The mapping is not direct
between the two. The short description in CRM provides the link
for the texts in both systems.
In setting the structure for CRM, a larger text field was made
available but in the original R/3 20 CHAR was all there was. Because
these are strictly speaking customizing tables, it is not recommended
to change the structure of the tables.
Any such changes would be regarded as a customer modification and
would not be supported.
The larger field available in CRM should make the description more
valuable and probably should be used to the full extent but
unfortunately short of changing the table structure it's not
possible to change the available text in R/3.
Apologies for not having a more favourable response.
Kind regards,
Zsuzsanna
We have similar requirements mentioned in this discussion. I find marketing (R3) config options with bit disappointment that SIC/NAICS codes description can't be created with more than 20 chars. Basically these (standard) tables V_T016 , V_TBRC donu2019t support Industry standard descriptions ?? If anyone has used these std. tables please let me know how u2026 Thanks

I have a NAICS 2007 database. Not the official from NAICS website but it's fully functional (MySQL, other DB available too). I needed it and it was sold in $ 1,500 so I had to build my own version. Whoever is interested may contact me. I can show you screenshots and give it for a lower price. It has all the NAICS codes (over 20,000).
Dear Brian,
please see your message: 0000322291 2009 and the answer from Ian Kehoe.
The field you are referring to is RF02D-BRAT1. This has the following
attributes:
Data element BRAT1
Short Description Description of industry code 1 (SD)
Domain TEXT20
Data Type CHAR
No. of Characters 20
To adjust the length of this field a modification to the standard
system is needed. Before applying any modification to the system please
review note 170183.
Should you wish to see this changed in future releases to allow a longer
description for North American Industry Classification System please
consider entering a development request as per note 11.
Kind regards,
Zsuzsanna Hartyani

They are the CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA & CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA_CS.
More information about this BADIs you will find in the note: 577502.
