Hi All,
Familiar Issue but I couldn't solve it. I tried to start my system, immediately after the DB and message server started its giving errors.
DB: Oracle 10g
OS: Windows 2003
Oracle is up and running and in status open
All the SAP Services and oracle services are running fine.
R3trans is also connecting to the database with RC=0
Everything seems to be fine. After checking all these,I tried upgrading the kernel also. but to no avail.
I dont know what's causing the problem.
I am giving all the trace file details

Hi,
Hope the error due to either SAPSR3 user locked or the password changed in the database. Please use the BRTools to change the password for the user SAPSR3 and check it. You can do in BRTools as below...
BRTOOLS -> 8 - Additional functions -> 4 - Change password of database user
You can also check in the database whether the user is locked or not with the below sql statement...
select username,account_status from dba_users;

JP.

Thanks for all your replies.,
Here is further more light on the issue.
We havent done any upgrade or h/w change.
Memory parameters are fine.
DBA users related to SAP are not locked. Though there is some other users locked. I dont know what it is used for. Please see below table

But I found some thing Odd while I login to my Solman system. I am getting this windows error message during the startup."mySAP.com" has encountered a problem. Do you want to send this error report to microsoft? when i click the details "disp+work.exe" is giving error.
For this reason only I upgraded my kernel patch. Still I am getting this error.
thanks for your help
Kasi
Dear Kasi,
the root cause is the database connect of the work processes that fails. This will then bring down the
dispatcher. The dev_ms error is a consequence, because the dispatcher does not respond.
Make sure that 'R3trans -d' as <SID>adm works. Check for notes on the Oracle error to get
this resolved. Seems that the default user/password combination is not allowed to connect to
the database.
Best Regards,
Tim
Hi thanks for you reply,
Initially I was wrong in saying that r3trans -d is connecting properly.
No r3trans -d seems to be not working properly.
Ora-1017 is a pure login/access isssue. I reset the SAP users at the database level. Since its a windows system I reset the password same as a NTlogin ID.
First I unlocked the users in the database. second I reset the password in the .sapuser table using brtools.
After doing all these things, the password got reset and r3trans was connecting properly.
BUT when i start the system, when it connects to the message server the password is getting locked again.
Or am I missing something?
Any suggestions and answers?
by the way I followed the note 400241
Thanks
Regards
Kasi
Hi,
Ora-1017 is a pure login/access isssue. I reset the SAP users at the database level. Since its a windows system I reset the password same as a NTlogin ID.
Porblem seems to be with ops$. Did you change the password via BRTOOLS?
Please make sure
1. Environment variables like ORACLE_HOME, JAVA_HOME etc are set correctly.
2. Listner is running
Hope this helps.
Manoj
Check the famous 400241 note. Take your time and check step by step. Verify everything in place.
If you found any issues solve it.
Try login thru remote desktop with your SAPService<SID>. I had issues with that and I solved it with the help of ITS. I dont think you will be having the same issues. If your login is successful then, no help needed from the ITS.
Also check the Listener status in SAPService<SID>. in my case listener was working in <SID>adm and not in SAPService<SID>. lsnrctl status.
Also try to start the SAP system thru service user.
Good luck

As Juan said, this is nothing to do with the password. But with the windows.
Finally I solved the issue with the r3trans execution. The issue is, in windows there is some policy settings in the domain controller. Something with NTservice login. It was not accepting any connection through the network. I talked to my ITS people and they solved it.
And there is a biggest blunder one could make. there is a typo in the DBA_SID environment variable. How stupid? Good lesson for me though!!!!
Once i set that it was not giving any errors and its trying to start.
Thanks for all the brains out there
Regards
Kasi

Since this is Windows, check r3trans -d for both the <SID>adm and the SAPService<SID> account.

One final push for some solution!
I will explain it step by step:
The R3trans -d was not connecting properly with the database.
So I unlocked the user SAPSR3 in the database level by alter user SAPSR3 account unlock;
Then I reset the password of SAPSR3 in the table .SAPUSER by brconnect -u system/<password> -f chpass -o <sapowner> -p <password>
Now r3trans is connecting properly. When I start my SAP thru MMC, the user SAPSR3 is getting locked again.
I checked the Environment variable and all. everything is proper.
Any help?????

Yes I changed the password through BRTools after I unlocked that user ID.
I tried everything I could.,

Hi,
Did you check the network connectivity?

Hi
Can you please throw some light on the memory sizing of your system
What is the size of the Page file, Instance Parameter abap/buffersize, and PHYS_MEMSIZE.
In addition , also check SAP notes:
Note 551915 - R/3 won't start after database restore or database copy
You will have to run the script contained in the user_restore.zip attachment.
Note 734034
I hope it helps
