Question on Job posting...

Hi,

I've got a an opening for a SAP Portal/BI administrator position available and was wondering if this would be a good forum for possible job placement opportunities in this area.

Thanks in advance.

Summary: This particular forum is a great spot to discuss trends vs. actual job postings...

Darren,

Hi! Thanks for point out the bigger picture that there are job opportunities around SAP professional skills including Business Intelligence! This is a very positive insight that we continue to track!

We ran a recent Podcast (see lower right side w/Jon Reed)

--> [SAP Skills in a Challenging Economy |https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/uac]

--> [Jon's Blog on this topic...|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/13541] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];

Specific to your questions, this particular forum is not a "job posting" area. Of course the fact that you mentioned it raises the very positive point that SAP BI, analytics, performance management, strategic business support, etc. are all very HOT areas of the marketplace!

So yes, please post any trends or comments related to BI...

      • What's the business driver that created this job?

      • Is this position only for recent graduates or more advanced skilled?

      • Do you see SAP certification as a value-add to this position before or after they're hired?

Best regards,

Richard

Richard,

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think you wanted this to be a job posting forum, but didn't see a good spot for this.

To answer your questions -

Business Driver - We are moving a lot of information into our backend BW system from a non-sap application and plan on using the data for analytical reporting. We are looking to use some BI 7.0 tools, some BOBJ tools and the SAP Portal for this reporting. These all are new areas for us and have many learning, one of which is that I need another person in this arena. This position will be partial SAP Portal development, BI 7.0 understanding and BOBJ understanding - to assist the report writers. It will also include BI administrator from the data modeling perspective.

Recent graduates or more advanced skilled - I am looking at both at this time.

SAP certification as a value-add - Possibly value added, but defiantly not a priority.

BR,

Darrin

Through the eyes of a potential college graduate who has achieved his/her financial limit in pursuit of superior academics and who is in search of work desperately in the field he/she loves the most, the world looks a little different. This happens because all the job descriptions (SAP related) are hard to imagine. There may be a few exceptions. But I haven't found them yet.

There are some good SAP job boards like Simplysap or [www.sapjobfinder.com|http://www.sapjobfinder.com] where you can post vacancies. First one is paid and second one allows you to post few job adverts for free

There are loads of recruitment agencies that will basically do the work for you, have a look at places like http://www.recruit121.com and other places like that. (even if you dont use a recruitment agency, they can be good to get ideas of where else to get your position noticed if you look at where they advertise etc)
