Hi Experts,

Kindly clarify below point.

Do XI/PI is needed for SRM and MDM Integration? Is XI/PI is the only way to integrating above two products?

Thanks

Yes.

The purpose of a middleware is to reduce the point to point connection between the communcating systems. Otherwise you may develop a lot of types of codes for each interface thereby complicating the landscape structure. In your case, PI will suit your requirement to a large extent. Only if you could ensure that SRM MDM is the only interface that exists in your landscape with no future possibilities of other interfaces, you should avoid PI.

Why cant you post the exact requirment for better solutions?

Check out the possibilies of your data transfer b/n src and target without any Middleware and your organisation a/c.

if not possible then you need to use XI/PI for integration.

Hi,

When there is an integration of mySAP components like SRM, SCM, CRM with R/3 or other third party systems or other Netweaver components (in your case MDM) it is recommended to use XI as a middleware.....why XI?....becoz all these mySAP components and Xi are based on the NetWeaver platform and hence to provide ease of implementation there is need of using XI:)

Not sure sure whether it is absolutely necessary to use XI :(...

Abhishek.

first you'd have to clarify what is meant by - needed

there is no easy way to connenct SRM with MDM without XI in standard

but you can use many other tools (middleware) like business connector

to do it - so this is the answer to your question

XI on the other hand gives you some predefined content for master data

flows
