Replace BI Development Server

Hi,

We are in the process to replace BI development server with new hardware (Server name and SAP instance name ares also changed). Currently, The original BI development server is dual-stack installation and new BI development server is ABAP only. We like to perform system copy (Database restore) from original BI development server to new BI development server and connect original R3 source system to the new BI development server. Since database of dual-stack has database schema of Java, We like to drop the Java schema after database is restored into new development server and continue the steps according to system copy procedures from SAP. Can you advise whether this approach is working? Do you have any suggestions how to achieve our goal?

Hi,

Try doing a system copy using "sapinst" based on AS ABAP, and provide this export dump duing target system installation. Database restore may be complicated. This way you avoid installing a fresh system and then restore.
