Hello
I wander what is in /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGSXX/data directory. in my case many stat* files. Can they be deleted?
jan Bo,
stat/file & stat/max_files are the parameters in SAP which gives the file name of the statistics file and the maximum number of files. So once the max file level is reached, it will automatically be overwritten. so you should not worry about it.
You should have a look at

Thanks,
Debasis.

Hi,
My suggestion is not to delete the stat* files. They are collected as part of statistics collection by SAP at regular intervals and overwritten. Again these files you can read by SAP transaction STAD for workload analysis and last minute load in ST03. So they are necessary files.
Please refer to following note for more information.

Hello Jan,
This directory contain mostly temporary data files, which are normally deleted (overwritten)
when the SAP instance is restarted.
The data directory contains mostly virtual storage data for the instance, including the user contexts
and roll areas.
You can delete the stat files
