Hi,
You can make the field mandatory in the transaction OITL.
Or check in the Investment Management--Appropriation Requests-Master Data-Control Data--Specify Tab Layout for Appropriation Requests.
For your first question the Position id is created for the one budget profile for the whole project in investment mangement & Assign to higher level WBS.
If you dont want to input the investment program field in PS means .
Follow this procedure.
IM01 create investment management,Then IM11--Create investment program position.
Then IM52 -- Distribute Budget to project,
Then distribute budget to all the lower level WBS in CJ30.
So manyual assignment of investment in project will be avoided & problem is solved.

Raj

usually in IM-PS there is only assignment top level
why do you want more than one
if you do want more than one
then do not assign at top level but assign at level 2
set a user status to disallow assignment at level 1
now you can assing the level 2 WBS to any position ID and there will only be one assignment - for lower levels do not allow assignment
