Oracle Patch 10.2.0.2

Hi,

We are running on oracle 10.2.0.1 and we would like to update it to

10.2.0.2. I have gone thru the S.Notes : 871735,839182,871096.

I have done with all the steps

1. Downloaded the bin files and joined the bin files as per S.Note: 509314 ( Created a folder under ORACLE_HOME with the permission 755 and ora<sid> as the owner)

2. Followed the pre-installtion steps as mentioned in the README.HTML (Patchset_10202_AIX5L_README.html)

When I execute the runInstaller (/oracle/<SID>/102_64/oui/bin/./runInstaller. I am calling this program from the folder where I ziped the individual *.bin files) it

is not showing the components "Patchset 10.2.02" to install.

Any other steps / notes to be followed.. What mistake I am doing..

Hi,

Are you sure you have unzipped the bin files in /oracle/<SID>/102_64/oui/bin/.... folder. Perhaps you are running it from wrong directory.

Let us say If you have unzipped the bin files in /oracle/stage/10202 directory it has subdirectory called Disk1. Under this directory you will find runInstaller. you need to execute this executable.

I think you have started Oracle Universal Installer, that's why it is not showing you oracle patch ser 10.2.0.2.

Try to run it from correct directory.

Thanks for your reply.

No, I have just ziped the files using cat command as mentioned in the S.Note : 509314. OK. I will unzip the ziped file and try this.

1) You unzip the files and you execute the "runinstaller" that is in the unzipped directory.

2) You have not read the "README" properly. It clearly states:

> This patch set includes Oracle Universal Installer release 10.2.0.2, which is also installed when you install this patch set. This is to ensure that your Oracle home can be patched in the future. You should not use the Installer from the earlier maintenance release media or Oracle home.

As you are running 10.2.0.1 (NOT supported) I'd suggest you use patchset 10.2.0.4 not 10.2.0.2

Thanks Guys.. yes. I missed that important sentense..I did the upgrade.. But, now new problem started.. I am not sure I can state in this thread or I have to open the new thread..

I am unable to start SAP.. R3trans -d is giving error 12.

Hi,

Have you performed the post upgrade activities. I suggest do a clean shudown of the database and restart it.

In addition check SAP note 655240.
