Message and Message Area

Hi Experts

I have some question concerning message and message area. I undetstand the by using the message manager will put message at the top of the application and message area at a specific position in the screen.

Let us concern the 1st case..ie. the case that message is at the top; the standard way without using message area.

The thing i'm concerning about is sometimes I see message display in a standard format (i.e a lot of white lines before the actual message and a lot of white lines after the message like in example1 ) and sometimes I see message displayed without any white lines but having a green line or red line at the bottom like example 2.. Why this happens ??? There is an SAP demo DEMO_MESSAGES that you can see messages displayed like I mentionned. I tried to understand it, copy the SAP DEMO_MESSAGES and execute to reproduce the messages with green line or red line at the bottom but not sucessful (i.e Messages are always displayed with white lines )

Hello Dean,

If you observe properly, the component has 2 webdynpro applications.

In the first, in the 'Handling of Messages' , the first radio Button for "Show Message on Component Demand" is selected.

In the Second, the third Radio button for " Display Messages without Message Component" is selected.

That's why , you find that difference.

And coming to the colour of lines that you see, it depends on the type of message that you get.

1. For first Radio Button selected,

No change appears in the Message area, irrespective of the type of message.

2. For third Radio Button selected the bottom line color changes as,

For Error Message : Red.

For Warning or Success Message : Dark Blue.

Also the Input box is coloured Red when the Message type is related to UI Element, as you might be knowing not all the message types will be related to UI.

And the colors also depend on the Visual Design , Theme Selection of your SAP GUI.

Thnk a lot for your reply.

In fact, yes, there are 2 applications in DEMO_MESSAGES, demo messages and demo_messages2.

I opened the DEMO_MESSAGES and go in each application to see the application properties, I see both of them as <Show message component on demand>. Another funny thing is I see only 2 radio buttons <Show message component on demand> and <Always display component on demand>. There is no 3rd radio button <Display Messages without Message Component>. I tried to reactivate the 2 apolication and the message on the 2nd appplication still have red line at bottom. Do you know why?..Is that because my Webdynpro version is not correct???

it correct i think that is version problem

Can u tell me the version u have.

Tell service pack level

system->status there u can find the version and Service pach level
