Experts

We have installed NW2004s Recently on AIX 5.3. When we checked we see that the No of CPUs count in ST06 shows incorrectly. We have total 3 CPUs and Virutal CPU count is 6. But the system shows the Count as 12 from SAP. The CPU count from OS shows correctly. Please advise.

Regards,

Mahesh

Thanks all for your suggestions

I have restarted the SAPOSCOL and still shows the same thing. Mine is a Dual Core. Please find the CPU stats which I have retrived from SAPOSCOL in Dialog Mode.

name: s99f02v01 id: 4

model: IBM,9117-570

processor: PowerPC_POWER5 frequency: 1654 MHz

type: SPLPAR

SMT: On threads: 2

virtual cpus: 6

pool cpus: 16.00 pool util auth: Off

phys cpus cons: 0.03 phys cpus idle: 0.00

capped: Off

entitled cpus cons: 1.40 % entitled cpus: 3.00

available cpus cons: 1.40 % available cpus: 3.00

The CPU Count shows as 12. Please check and let me know if it is showing correctly. Does it calculate

CPU Count = Virtual cpus * Threads

Mahesh,

It looks like because of Simultaneous Multi-threading (SMT) and virtual processors ST06 is showing 12 processors. So your calculation looks ok to me.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mahesh,

with the [Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdmgds55/helpdata/EN/42/FC006B8ADF1A61E10000000A422035/content.htm]

under CPU Count it says " A dual core CPU counts as two CPUs ". So form ST06 it is showing the same with your case...
