SRM BI Reports and User License

Hi SRM Experts,

This is a question on SRM and BI licensing actually. I understand most SRM reports are run in BI and if an SRM user wants to view BI reports, he still needs to access them via BEX right? Or Portals? Either way, we pay for 2 user licenses...one for SRM and the other for BI.

This would seem to make SRM impementations more costly don't you think? Or is there a way to publish the BI reports and make it available in the SRM website? What is the general or best practice for these cases?

Hi Marvin,

Then try out Visual Composer. Which may reduce the implementation cost than BI Implementation. But before check about the payloadon the SRM system by number of users and no of times report runs.

I don't think Viusal composer implemention cost shoule be high when it compares with BI. how you will get the data from SRM?

Hi Ravi,

We can integrate any SAP system to Visual composer via RFC's or by BADI's. In Visual composer we can create custom iViews for portal and can integrate in customer portal.

Yes. if you want to access BI reports then why do you require SRM? if you want both SRM and BI then definitely requires 2 licenses concept for both SRM and BI as far as i know.

What I meant was since most SRM reports (e.g. spend analysis, etc) are to be found in BI, it seems SAP is "milking" the client for user license fees because I would be paying 2 user license for technically one (1) person.

Or is there a different arrangement with this?

SAP gives fantastic reports with readymade queries .if you have maverick spending , you must monitor all spends in all angles. All depends volume of business ....there is no free lunch in the world.

genreally this report may be viewed by top management ,not all users.

i am not much aware of licencing part. for anything.. if you monitor, you can control otherwise not.
