"source system" connection between the ECC systems and BI systems.

Hello All,

We need to create "source system" connection between the ECC systems and BI systems.

Can any 1 please explain me how to do this. Also what type of user to use for establishing connection.

Please help.

Define Client in SAP R/3

In SCC4

u2022 Automatic recording of changes

u2022 Changes to Repository and cross-client Customizing allowed

u2022 eCATT and CATT allowed

Define a Logical System for SAP R/3 (SAP R/3)

u2022 Define the systems as logical systems.

u2022 Assign the logical system for the SAP R/3 System to a client.

Create an RFC User (SAP R/3)

User Type : SYSTEM

Profiles need to be assigned : SAP_ALL, SAP_NEW and S_BI-WX_RFC

Define Client in BI

In SCC4

u2022 Automatic recording of changes

Define a Logical System in BI

u2022 Define the systems as logical systems.

u2022 Assign the logical system for the SAP R/3 System to a client.

Create an RFC User in BI

User Type : SYSTEM

Profiles need to be assigned : SAP_ALL, SAP_NEW and S_BI-WX_RFC

Go to RSA1 on the BI server

1. Choose Modeling.

2. Choose Source Systems.

3. Select Source Systems in the window on the right.

4. Choose the Context menu (right mouse click).

5. Choose Create.

6. Select SAP System from Release 3.0E (Automatic Creation).

7. Choose Transfer.

8. Make the following entries:

Target computer (server) : Server of the SAP R/3

System ID : System ID of the SAP R/3 system

System number : System number of the SAP R/3 system

Background user in source system: RFC USER name od SAP R/3

Password for source system : Password for the RFC user

Background user in BW : RFCUSER of BI system (can not be changed in this activity)

Password for BW user : Password for the RFC user

9. On the dialog box Please log on as an administrator in the following screen choose Continue.

10. Log on to the Source System with your administrator user. Choose the correct client.

11. On the dialog box New Source System Connection choose Continue.

12. On the Replicate Metadata dialog box, choose Only Activate.

Thank JP for your step by step guidens

A small clarification after assigning Logical system to respective client in both systems we have to establish RFC destination between the system using SM59 and have to enter BW_USER and MANT in the RSADMINA table at BW side

Hope the above information is enough to create teh source system in BI.
