Unable to install on either Linux or Windows?!?

DB creation error in status 'crInstance', message is:

"ERROR in '/opt/sdb/programs/bin/dbmcli -R "/opt/sdb/MAXDB1" -R "/opt/sdb/MAXDB1" db_create MAXDB1 DBM,*** '

ERR

-24996,ERR_PARAM: wrong parameters

1,Invalid first database manager operator"

Based on other comments in this forum, I've tried installing "custom" and I've tried changing the user name to "MHEINZ" instead of "DBADMIN" - but nothing seems to help!

Worse, the Windows version seems to leave behind garbage that I can't clean up so that I have to create a different DB every time I try to install! (and the old ones won't go away!)

Sorry - but I've been pulling an all-nighter trying to get this DB installed and I'm pulling my hair out.

I've been trying to install 7_6_06_03.

What operator password is that? I ran sdbsetup and took the defaults at each stage! The password I provided was "1234"!

Just change the password to 'DBM' or something withtout a number as the first character.
